Slovakia's Trade Deficit in February was SKK 2.054 billion Sk

Preliminary data of the Statistics Office show that Slovakia achieved a trade deficit SKK 2.054 billion in February. After a trade surplus in January, which the Statistics Office revised upward to SKK 4.881 billion, this represents worsening by almost SKK 7 billion from the previous month. However, in a year-on-year comparison the trade balance improved by more than SKK 8 billion. Exports in February grew by 27.4 percent to SKK 108.242 billion, while imports grew by 15.7 percent to SKK 110.296 billion.
In total for the first two months of 2007, the trade balance remains positive with a surplus of SKK 2.827 billion. Total exports grew by 31.4 percent over the same period of last year to SKK 218.2 billion, while total imports grew 16.5 percent to SKK 215.3 billion.
